Standard Planetary Defences

So a good way to work out a) if you need defences at all, b) how much of it you need.

1) Estimate how many hours the planet will be left unattended.

2) Compute the total production in resource units (i.e., Metal+Crystal+Deuterium) of the planet for this time. You don't need to weight the resources in any way.

3) Compute the total amount of debris that would be left by any fleet left around the planet (even if it is just a few Solar Sats) and add this number to the number computed at the previous step.

4) For every 100.000 of the number you have obtained at the previous steps, build 93 Light Lasers, 36 Heavy Lasers, 9 Gauss Cannons and 6 Plasma Turrets.


so for me..
3 days of 32/29/29 with 700 sats.

25m metal

6.5m deut
per planet

So under 10 weeks worth of res to build that standard defence on every planet.
It'd mean i won't have to build up fusion reactors, i can remain reliant on sats. It'd mean i don't have to spend the several hundred million res i was going to spend on energy tech 17.

And means i wouldn't have to vmode as often so my mines will keep producing :-)

the min. defence i keep is four days production from there it grows as i bild a few here and a few there
there are normaly +60 LC docked on my worlds i prefer timevalt to fleetsave and thay have been hit 3-4? times in over two years time
